County Board Asks For Wind Turbine Study

The Fond du Lac County Board this week approved a pair of resolutions asking for a study on the impact of wind turbines on human health. One copy will be sent to the Governor and state legislators from the area and the other to the Wisconsin Counties Association. Prior to the vote Jim Miller, who lives in the shadows of some of those turbines, talked about how the turbines impact their sleep and health. Supervisor Tom Dornbrook says it’s an issue the County can’t afford to tackle on its own. Supervisor Marty Schroeder was the lone vote against the ordinances. He said the County Board passed a similar resolution 3 ½ years ago, but it did not accomplish anything. Supervisor Brenda Schneider said $250,000 was actually included in the state budget for study, but the Joint Finance Committee took it out.

Local Dairy Advocate Sacks Rodgers On Dairy Comments

It turns out a local dairy advocate is pretty effective at her own trash talking when it comes to Aaron Rodgers comments about ditching dairy from his diet. Brenda Gudex, the Director of Agricultural Programs for the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, wrote a rebuttal to the Packer quarterback’s comments for the Fond du Lac Reporter. It caught the attention of national sportswriters. She says it was actually a positive turn on the value of eating dairy products. In the article she encouraged Rodgers to come to the chamber to learn about dairy. She says comments on the article have been both pro and con. She says in one Wisconsin poll cheese actually outranked Aaron Rodger in popularity. She says studies have gone back and forth on dairy’s effect on diet, but ultimately it is a personal choice.
