Two Fishermen Rescue From Lake Winnebago

Two Brillion men were rescued from Lake Winnebago Wednesday morning after their fishing boat tipped over. Calumet County Sheriff’s officials say they got a call at 9:11 a.m. reporting two men were clinging to their boat near Stockridge Harbor. Another fisherman brought the 62-year-old and 76-year-old men to shore. Sheriff’s deputies and a dive team also helped at the scene. Both men were wearing life jackets when their 14-foot aluminum boat tipped over. They weren’t hurt.

Oshkosh Man Facing Charges For Waupun Chase

A 17-year-old Oshkosh man is facing a number of charges after fleeing from Waupun Police early Sunday morning. An officer spotted him driving through a yard and the vehicle ended up at a dead end. The teen and a passenger ran from the vehicle, but were caught on foot. He’s facing fleeing an officer, threats to law enforcement, endangering safety, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest charges. The 15-year-old girl who was with him was reported as missing. She is being held in the Fond du Lac juvenile detention center.

Eight Hurt In Washington County Accident

Washington County Sheriff’s officials say eight people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on I-41 Tuesday night in a construction zone. A minivan was stopped for construction and an SUV was behind it. A 28-year-old Washington County woman was driving a passenger car that couldn’t stop in time. It hit the SUV pushing it into the minivan. A 44-year-old Milwaukee woman driving the SUV and seven passengers were taken to area hospitals. The accident in the Town of Polk happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Two Hired For NFDL Ambulance Service

The North Fond du Lac Village Board this week approved the hiring of a full time medic and paid on call person for their ambulance service. Village Administrator Chuck Hornung says one of their full time paramedics left for another job. He says they also are always looking for paid on call people. He says they have four full-time medics. He says they also have four part-time employees. He says the paid on call people fill in as needed.  Dan Voltner was hired as a full time medic and Chris Kiefer as a paid on call person.

Back To School FDL Needs Volunteers And Donations

Back to School Fond du Lac has a new web site up and running.  Gloria Schmidt the Community Relations Coordinator for the Fond du Lac School District says it’s a great source of information for those who want to volunteer or donate. She says it is set up with a PayPal account. Karissa Schneider is the Director of Operations for the Boys and Girls Club. She says they do still need donations of school supplies, including back packs. She says those who would like to host supply drives are more than welcome and individual donations are also welcome. She says the two main drop-off sites are the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club. The ‘shopping day’ for Back to School Fond du Lac will be on Saturday August 20th. 

Fireworks Safety Reminders

Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary warns those still using fireworks this weekend to be careful. He says the 4th of July may be over, but people will still be setting off fireworks this weekend. He says to remember it flies up into the air or explodes it is illegal to use in the City. But he still expects they will be used. He says bottle rockets can start a fire, so be careful where you are aiming them. He says fireworks can also injure people whether they are the person setting them off or just happen to be in the area.
