NAMI Helped Her NAMI Run Walk Coming Up

NAMI Fond du Lac programs helped a local woman deal with being bipolar. Christina says she found out she was bipolar when she was 15-years-old and instead of taking medication for it tried to self-medicate. She says that led down a troubled path. She says it resulted in suicide attempts and trouble with the law. She says she spent time in jail, prisons, and institutions. When she got out about a year ago she went to the Berry House where she was introduced to NAMI programs including Friendship Corner. Through NAMI’s Peer-to-Peer program she will be doing talks with youth about the importance of taking medication if you are diagnosed as being bipolar.
