Pennsylvania Man Sentenced For Child Enticement
The 40-year-old Pennsylvania man suspected of exposing himself on the Internet to an 11-year-old Ripon girl was recently sentenced. Fond du Lac County Judge Dale English sentenced William Weaver to 13 ½ years in prison and nine years of extended supervision. Weaver and the girl allegedly connected through Facebook. After learning of the relationship the girl’s parents contacted Ripon Police.
Washington County Hit And Run
Washington County Sheriff’s officials are looking for a driver who ran over the foot of a 42-year-old Town of West Bend woman Saturday afternoon. She was legally walking on County Highway Z when the vehicle crossed over the center line and ran over the outer edge of her foot. She was wearing a bright orange traffic type vest. The vehicle was an older model, small four-door. It was faded or sky blue in color. A white man about 50 years of age was driving it. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 262-335-4420.
Film And Panel Discussion About Battling Toxic Stress
A one-hour documentary film and panel discussion in Fond du Lac will delve into a dangerous biological syndrome caused by abuse and neglect during childhood. It’s known as toxic stress and is the focus of the film, Resilence: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope. It will be shown Thursday at the Goodrich Little Theater and is free and open to the public. The screening will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and includes a discussion by a panel of local experts. They will share their perspectives on resilience, trauma, adverse childhood experiences, and current efforts being used in the County.
Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign Underway
The Fond du Lac Salvation Army launched its annual Red Kettle campaign last weekend. Salvation Army Captain Steve Wilson says they hope to collect a little more than they did last year. He says they set the goal at $160,000, which is about $5,000 more than they collected last year. Captain Telinda Wilson says they have another option to give to the campaign this year. You can buy wearable pins for various donation levels at the Salvation Army Office on North Macy or from members of their community relations development committee. She says the pins are available at $20, $50 and $100 giving levels and wear them around town. They will also have about 90 counter top red kettles at stores around town.
Life Enforcement Support Of Police Department Appreciated
The group Life Enforcement was honored during the Fond du Lac Police Department’s annual awards ceremony. Keywon Brown of the group says they recently celebrated their third anniversary. He says they received the award for the different projects they have done in the community. He says they look for ways to create random acts of kindness events. Officer Erik Foster says Life Enforcement has also been good at building relationships between the police and areas of the community. He says that’s particularly true of areas where police get a higher volume of calls. Foster says when called upon Life Enforcement has also provided support for events the police department has been involved in.
Chili And Soup Sale Benefits United Way
Guaranty Title Services in Fond du Lac will hold their 5th Annual Chili and Chicken Noodle Soup Sale Wednesday to benefit the Fond du Lac Area United Way Campaign. United Way Executive Director Amber Kilawee says they will deliver, but they are only taking orders through noon today. Order forms are available on the United Way website. There is also the option of stopping by Guaranty Title Services at 481 East Division to pick up soup or chili. It’s $5 for a 12 ounce bowl or you can get a quart for $10.
