New Information On Sheboygan County Fatal

Sheboygan County Sheriff’s officials say a 49-year-old New Holstein man was not responsible for the death of Sheboygan Falls’ man after all on July 3rd. Investigators believed Brian Hartwig hit and killed 23-year-old Shawn Kaufert with his van while Kaufert was walking on County Road P early that morning. Further investigation revealed Kaufert was already dead when Hartwig’s van struck him. An autopsy determined he was hit and killed by a vehicle before the van struck him. The vehicle that killed him left the scene after hitting him. Anyone that might have information is asked to contact the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department at 920-459-3123.

Congress Grothman On Questioning FBI Director

Congressman Glenn Grothman believes FBI Director James Comey was going out of his way to protect former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for using a private server to send classified emails while she was secretary. Grothman serves on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Last week the committee questioned Comey about the emails. Grothman says Comey reasoned Clinton couldn’t be charged criminally because she didn’t intend to break the law. He says Comey concluded Clinton didn’t know what the law was. Grothman finds it hard to believe that the firm Clinton used to have the emails deleted did so without her knowledge. He also feels some of those tens of thousands of emails that were deleted may have contained information about the Benghazi attack and the Clinton Foundation. He says the public will have to draw its own conclusion.

Downtown Exploratory Committee Presses On

The facilitator of Fond du Lac’s Downtown Exploratory Committee says they’ve been learning about some of the programs that impact the downtown. Diana Tscheschlok says that’s included learning from the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership and particularly about the Main Street program. She says they also learned from Community Development Director Dyann Benson what the City’s role in downtown development is. She says it is a delicate balance because while the City is interested in the development of the downtown, much of property is privately owned. She says recently the committee heard from someone with the State’s Main Street program. She says the committee is looking at how to prioritize the needs committee members see for the downtown.
