Man Injured In FDL Accident

A 56-year-old man driving on Highway 45 in Fond du Lac was taken to St. Agnes Hospital after crashing into a guardrail on Highway 151 early Monday morning. Sheriff’s deputies arrived just before 4:13 a.m. The man had gone off Highway 45 missed a pond, ended up on Highway 151 where his vehicle came to rest in a northbound lane after hitting the guardrail. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue took him to the hospital.

Three Rescued From Lake Puckaway

Three men were rescued from Lake Puckaway after their boat sank Saturday morning. One of the men in the boat called 911 after it began to take on water. Green Lake County Sheriff’s officials say the three were unable to bail fast enough and their motor wouldn’t start. They boat sank and all three ended up in the water with life jackets on. They were rescued from the water and the boat was removed from it. The incident was reported at 7:38 a.m. 

Jackson Man Remains In Jail For Fatal Accident

Bond will remain at $15,000 cash for a 21-year-old Jackson man facing reckless homicide and other charges for a fatal multi-vehicle accident in Washington County. The lawyer for Dylan Hodgson recently made a motion to get his bond reduced, but that was denied. Sixty-year-old Cynthia Patrick was killed in the July 19th accident on Highway 60 went Hodgson lost control of his vehicle trying to pass two others. He’s back in court on September 21st.   Hodgson is being held in the Washington County Jail.

FDL School Board Approves Assistant Principal Hirings

The Fond du Lac School Board Monday approved the hiring of two new assistant principals. Marissa Lombardo will be an assistant principal at the High School and Amy Kunstman assistant principal at Theisen Middle School. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says Lombardo will do a great job. He says she’s been a Spanish teacher at the High School. He says they are excited about her energy level and her knowledge and instructional leadership capabilities. Kunstman was a music teacher at Chegwin Elementary. Sebert says she filled in as a substitute principal at times at Chegwin. He says she is very level, positive and will bring that to Theisen and their district administrative team.

Feingold Faces Opponent In Democratic Primary Today

Former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold feels current Senator Ron Johnson isn’t listening to the needs of constituents. Feingold says he believes the job of being a Senator or Representatives is listening to people and getting their view first instead of telling them what they should think. He says typical families are having a tough time making a living. He says middle income and working families feel like they are working hard, unemployment is down, people at the top and Wall Street are doing real well while they are having a hard time paying their bills. Feingold faces fellow Democrat Scott Harbach of Kenosha in today’s primary election. The winner will face Republican-incumbent Ron Johnson and Libertarian candidate Phillip Anderson in November.

FEMA Training Tested FDL County Officials Resourcefulness

Sixty officials from Fond du Lac County had a lot thrown at them during a training session at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland last month. The training was paid for through a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant. County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Ryan Waldschmidt was one of those who attended. He says they covered things at both the county and state levels, hazardous materials, working with the media and more. He says in a big exercise tailored for the Fond du Lac County contingent there was an accident on I-41 near County Highway OO where a school bus going to EAA collided with a truck. There was an ensuing explosion fire and casualties. A deputy directing traffic was struck and killed and at the same time a train derailed in the North Fond du Lac Railroad yard with a chemical spill. The training was July 11th through the 14th.

Drive 4UR Community Event At Society Insurance Wednesday

Area residents can help out the Fond du Lac Area United Way by test driving a new Ford Wednesday at Society Insurance in Fond du Lac. United Way Executive Director Amber Kilawee  says Holiday Ford will be providing the cars for the event, which is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. She says Ford will be donating $20 for each test drive up to 300 test rides or up to $6,000. Society Insurance is the lead pacesetter for the United Way’s upcoming campaign. Tracy Schneider of Society says they will also have a brat fry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Society Insurance is located at 150 Camelot Drive in Fond du Lac. To participate in the Drive 4UR Community event you must have a valid driver’s license and valid car insurance.

Waupun Truck Show Detours

Detours will be set up in Waupun this Friday and Saturday for the annual truck show and parades.   Highway 49 will be closed from Gateway Drive to Fox Lake Road.  Highway 26 will only be open to local traffic from East Spring Street to East Jefferson Street.  Detours will be in effect Friday from 8:45 pm to 11 pm and Saturday from 2:45 pm to 4:45 pm.  Drivers heading west on Highway 49 should head south on Shaler Drive, west on Lincoln Street, north on Rens Way, north on Fox Lake Road, west on Brown Street, and north on County Park Road to West Main Street.  Southbound traffic on Highway 26 should go north on Frontage Road, east on Highway 26, and south on Highway 151 to get to either Highway 26 or Highway 151 south.
