Site Selectors Visit
Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation President Steve
Jenkins says hosting four site selectors in the County and others in the I-41
corridor could pay some dividends in the long run. It happened in late October.
Jenkins says there were four site selectors touring the area. Two from Chicago
and two from Texas who spent three days in the area touring from Fond du Lac to
Green Bay. He says there visit ended up with a CEO panel with representatives
from two of
largest companies serving on the panel. Wayne Matzke of Grande Cheese and John
Pfeifer of Mercury Marine served on the panel. He says the site selectors
learned a lot about the region and what is has to offer
Dodge
One man was found dead and another with a life-threatening medical
condition at a cabin in rural Dodge County Monday evening. According to the
Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call Monday asking for a welfare
check on two men who were overdue to return from a hunting trip to the cabin
located near Reeseville. The family said neither person was able to be reached
by phone. When deputies arrived, they could see one of the men unresponsive on
the floor and entered the cabin. There they found a 46 year old man dead and
his 69 year old father with a life-threatening medical problem. Both men are from
nearby hospital and then transferred to an intensive care unit in
has not been determined, but authorities are looking into carbon monoxide and
other environmental factors. The Dodge County Medical Examiner is assisting the
sheriff’s department with the investigation.
Cooking Safety
Thanksgiving Day is a big day for cooking and there are a few safety
reminders for those who will be working in the kitchen this holiday. Troy

case of fire.
Giving Gift Cards
Gift Cards are again expected to a popular gift to give this holiday
season, and officials with the Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer
Protection say there are some tips for people buying and receiving gift cards.
If you’re buying a gift card for someone, its important to inspect packaging it
comes in to ensure no protective stickers have been removed and that the PIN
has not been exposed. DATCAP officials say to read the fine print to understand
usage rules or fees that may come with the card. You are also encouraged to
give an activation receipt with the card to verify the value and date of
purchase. If you get a gift card this holiday, officials say you should use the
card as quickly as possible. Some cards may have inactivity fees that kick in
after a period of unuse, decreasing their value. Officials say to also keep
your cards in a safe place so they aren’t stolen. More information is available

Half Off Fines At FDL Public Library Black Friday
The
Public Library has a deal for shoppers on Black Friday as well or at least
those who put off returning books, videos and other materials they took out.
Community Information Coordinator Terri Fleming says all fines that are owed
will be half off. She says that includes lost and damaged items. But it is a
limited time offer. The half off fines deal is only at the Main Library from 9
a.m. to noon Friday.
Festival Foods Donates To The United Way
Festival Foods gives to the
