Lake Winnebago to Host National Walleye Tour Opener in May

Lake Winnebago
will host the season-opening event of the National Walleye Tour for the second
straight year. The tour was moved to Lake Winnebago in 2018 after flooding on
the Mississippi River forced a change in venue. The same situation happened
this year – as the tournament’s original host, Red Wing, Minnesota, received a
record 39 inches of snow in February. That prompted tournament organizers to preemptively
move the tournament because of flooding once again. The tournament will be held
May 2^nd & 3^rd. Fishing begins at 7 AM each day at
Menominee Park in Oshkosh, with weigh-ins taking place at 3 PM at the park The
registration deadline for guaranteed entry – by signing up with a pro or
co-angler – is today, with single entries still being accepted beyond that. Registration can be done online here. 

The
tournament consists of three regular-season events, plus a season-ending
championship event. Other locations hosting a regular season event include
Marinette, Wisconsin on May 30^th & 31^st, and Sault Ste
Marie, Michigan on July 25^th & 26^th. This year’s
championship is in Devil’s Lake, ND September 11^th through the 13^th.
