Lakeside Park Master Plan Approved

Nearly two years after the Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee gave its final report to the Fond du Lac City Council Wednesday night approved a master plan for the park. That includes revisions the Council mentioned during a meeting last November including a Hub that would be built on site of the current pavilion with meeting space for up to 200, kitchen areas, year-round restrooms and more. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says the plan is more like a guide and any improvements to the park would have to be approved as part of the City’s capital improvement projects. He says items in the plan aren’t set in stone and certainly can be changed over time. City Councilwoman Karyn Merkel complimented the plan, which was put together by Excel Engineering incorporating a lot of suggestions including the Council’s, Advisory Park Board, citizens, and the Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee recommendations. City Council President Lee Ann Lorrigan said approval of the master plan marked a milestone for the City.
