Lane Restrictions In Place Beginning 8/3 On Johnson St.

The City of Fond du Lac Department of Public Works is informing the motoring public of an upcoming street lane restriction on Johnson Street between Marquette Street and National Avenue.  City crews will be removing the brick pavers located in the crosswalks and replacing them with colored, stamped concrete on Johnson Street east of Main Street starting the week of August 3rd. Construction barricades and barrels will begin being placed on Sunday, August 2 at 8:00pm.

·         The project will begin on Johnson Street from Marquette Street to National Avenue and is scheduled to begin Monday, August 3rd. During this project, traffic control will be set up to allow two-way traffic on Johnson Street.

·         For Phase 1, two-way traffic will be set up in the eastbound lanes and the intersections of Amory Street and Wilson Avenue will be closed on the south side of Johnson Street.  Crews will be working in the north lanes of Johnson Street.

·         For Phase 2, two-way traffic will switch to westbound lanes and the intersections Amory Street, McKinley Street, Weis Avenue and Wilson Avenue will be closed on the north side of Johnson Street. Crews will be working in the south lanes of Johnson Street.

·         Traffic will not have access to or from Johnson Street during these closures. Park Avenue and National Avenue will have north and southbound travel with signalized four-way stops at these intersections.

Weather permitting, the crosswalk replacement on Johnson Street between Marquette Street and National Avenue is expected to be completed in three weeks. A signed detour will not be in place; however, motorists are encouraged to utilize Hwy 23, to Hwy 41, to Hwy 151, to Hwy 23 for eastbound traffic and Hwy 23, to Hwy 151, to Hwy 41, to Hwy 23 for westbound traffic.
