Law Enforcement Scam Popping up in Washington County

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is
warning residents about a scam where the callers impersonate law enforcement
officers. The scammers tell people they missed out on assigned jury duty and
there is a warrant for their arrest – then demand victims to purchase prepaid
money cards and personal information. The Sheriff’s Office says it will never
call and ask for personal information and that the Clerk of Courts deals all
jury-related issues. Anyone receiving a call like this is asked to hang up and
report it to the Sheriff’s Office.
