Lawsuit Filed By Sister Of FDL Murder Suspect

Fond du Lac City and County officials are not commenting on a civil rights lawsuit filed by the sister of a murder suspect. A lawyer for Tina Ewell filed the suit in federal court in Milwaukee Monday. It contends her civil rights were violated when she was held in the Fond du Lac County Jail in connection with the disappearance of her brother-in-law Timothy Nance last November. Ewell was held for two weeks without being charged, nearly two days of that time was in solitary confinement. Her sister Eve Nance was eventually charged for his murder. Ewell was released last December 2nd after Nance allegedly confessed to the crime. Fond du Lac County Corporation Counsel Meggin’ McNamara and Fond du Lac City Attorney Deb Hoffmann say they have not received a copy of the lawsuit yet. Hoffmann says the City will find representation for the police officers that are named in lawsuit. The Fond du Lac Police Department issued a statement Tuesday saying it had not received any type of notice yet and it would be inappropriate to comment on pending litigation. Among those named as defendants in the lawsuit are District Attorney Eric Toney, Assistant DA Dennis Krueger, Fond du Lac Police Detectives Bill Ledger and Matt Bobo and Sheriff Mick Fink.
