Life Saving Effort Honored By FDL Fire Department

The Fond du Lac Fire Department awarded its Citizen Life Safety Award to three individuals Wednesday who saved a life at a Culver’s restaurant on Good Friday. Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says the East Johnson Street Culver’s was able to get a grant from Agnesian HealthCare to purchase an automated external defibrillator. When a person collapsed in the restaurant last month they used the AED and CPR to resuscitate the person before paramedics arrived. O’Leary says it’s an example of why Fond du Lac is such a special place. Culver’s East Johnson Street co-owners Dan and Sandy Lichtenwald, and Jennifer Wagner were honored with the award. The award presentation was part of an open house for the Fire Department’s celebration of Emergency Medical Services Week. There was a good turnout for the open house.

A good crowd for the open house.

The remote controlled “Pumper” caught a few smiles.

One of the many demonstrations.
