United
Way Giving A Little Ahead Of Last Year

Contributions
to the Fond du Lac Area United Way
continue to trend a little higher this year than last year. United Way
Executive Director Tina Potter says they’ve raised about $427,000 or 57 percent
of their $745,000 goal. That’s about $16,000 ahead of last year at this time,
but on the other hand the goal is $5,000 more than in 2013. Potter says
individual events sponsored on their behalf and company campaigns are coming
in. This year about 36,000 people in the area will receive help through United Way funded
programs.

Be Safe If You Deep Fry Your
Turkey

If you are going to try and
deep fry your turkey today, Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase of the
Fond du Lac
Fire Department warns you to be sure you know what you’re doing.  He says first of all you should make sure your
deep fryer is plenty of distance away from buildings, houses, cars or garages.  He adds that if you put a wet or frozen
turkey into hot oil it will explode and  could cause a big fire.   Haase says that you can find proper
directions online on how to deep fry a turkey if that’s the route you want to
take today.
