A 55-year-old Green Bay woman was seriously injured when a truck driver from Utah took the wrong ramp on Highway 10 at Highway 45 in Winnebago County Wednesday night. Sheriff’s officials say the 43-year-old semi driver took the off ramp instead of the on ramp to Highway 45. Theda Star helicopter flew the injured woman to a local hospital. The truck driver received two traffic citations for causing the accident.

Random Lake Woman Sentenced For Role In Heroin Overdose

A 28-year-old Random Lake woman has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for her role in a heroin overdose.  Jamie Peterson pled no contest to a felony heroin trafficking charge this week in Sheboygan County Court. Last January she drove a friend to Milwaukee to get heroin. The friend overdosed on the drug, but EMTs were able to revive that person.  In addition to the prison time Peterson will spend two and a half years on extended supervision.

Sheboygan Car Fire Investigated

Sheboygan Police are investigating a car fire that appears to have been intentionally set on fire. The fire was reported at 4:19 Thursday morning in the 1000 block of Ontario Avenue. No injuries were reported and no other property was damaged.

Marian Signs MOU With Park University

Marian University in Fond du Lac recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Park University of Missouri, a partnership aimed to offer students additional educational opportunities in the area of thanatology. “Park and Marian are uniquely positioned to collaborate,” said Dr. Janet McCord, associate professor of Thanatology. “Their undergraduate certificate program will prepare individuals for further study in thanatology at the graduate level at Marian and Marian students living in the Kansas City area will find opportunities as interns at the Park University Center for the Study of Loss.” This MOU is the first of its kind for Marian University in that it supports an environment where both institutions of higher learning will work collaboratively to support the educational needs of students interested in studying thanatology. This pioneering approach will give students both undergraduate and graduate options. Together, Marian and Park University will provide a knowledge base so students can be better prepared for work in situations that deal with end-of-life issues. This MOU will take effect in summer 2015.

Adults Reminded To Leave The Alcohol At Home During Trick Or Treating

With trick or treating coming up in Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac this Sunday North Fond du Lac Police Chief Darren Pautsch is reminding adults to leave the alcohol at home. Pautsch says it’s been a problem in the village over the past few years with adults taking alcohol along as they accompany their kids for trick or treating. He says open intoxicants on city streets are illegal. He says it doesn’t take much for some people to become impaired and that puts more than just the drinker at risk. He also reminds drivers to watch for young trick or treaters whose excitement over the Halloween custom may lead to unsafe activity like darting into the street from between parked cars. He recommends slowing down and being alert.Trick or treating hours in Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac are from 3:30 to 5:30 this Sunday afternoon. The KFIZ Halloween Party is at 5:30. 

Fundraiser For United Way At Blue Goose Coffee House Today

Get a cup of coffee at the Blue Goose Coffee House in Fond du Lac today and you will be benefitting the Fond du Lac Area United Way. Amber Kilawee of the United Way says the Coffee House inside the Horicon Bank on East Johnson Street will be donating all Coffee House sales to the United Way. Hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. She says you can even pick up some baked goods and if you’re busy they have a drive-through.

Ghosts Of Galloway Providing A Good Scare

Area residents are enjoying a good scare at the Galloway House and Village in Fond du Lac. Tracy Reinhardt of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society says they’ve gotten good crowds for the Ghosts of Galloway attraction, which features 17 different events. She says those portraying the ghosts and fiends are supplying just the kind of scare you might suspect you’d find in a haunted village. The Ghosts of Galloway attraction is each Friday and Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. through November 1st. For more about the attraction click here.
