Sliced Competition At Taste Of FDL Will
Challenge MPTC Students

Ripon Awards
The Ripon Chamber of Commerce along with Ripon Main Street Incorporated held
its first ever Ripon Annual Dinner. The Ripon Chamber of Commerce recognized
Alliance Laundry Systems as its Large Business of the Year. The Small Business of the Year Award went to
Vines and Rushes Winery. The Chamber also recognized Traded Treasures as
its Community Service Organization of the year. Phyllis Neilsen of US
Bank was recognized as an outgoing board member for her service, while Amanda
Przybyl of
were recognized for being new board members. The Ripon Chamber of
Commerce also honored Joan Karsten with the Distinguished Service Award.Ripon
Main Street Incorporated awarded Renovation of the Year honors to Mary Flanagan

Honored
Seventeen nursing students
from
University Student Nurses¹ Association (MUSNA) at the 65th Annual Convention of
the Wisconsin Student Nurses’ Association (WSNA) held February 7 - 9 in
Wisconsin Dells. While attending the convention, MUSNA received the Most
Community Projects award, which is given to a chapter who is actively involved
in serving their community and promote the mission of the nursing profession.
In addition to receiving this award, Kate Kwiesielewicz, from
was elected to serve on the 2014 2015 WSNA Board of Directors.
Tax Returns
If you file your federal tax return electronically and specify direct deposit,
you can expect to have the refund in your bank account in 21 days. IRS
spokesman Christopher Miller says the best way to go is e-filing. He says well over 80 percent of us in
now file our taxes electronically. Filing electronically is more accurate than
filing on paper. The error rate for filing electronically is somewhere in the
neighborhood of 1 percent compared to around 20 percent for filing on paper.
Miller says many people are not aware of the IRS’s Free-File program, where
people with an adjusted gross income of 58 thousand dollars or less can file
their federal return for no charge. The IRS homepage is at i-r-s-dot-gov.
Because there are a number of scams going around, Miller also wants to remind
taxpayers that the IRS will not contact you by phone, email or on social media
to ask for any personal or financial information such as Social Security
numbers or bank account or credit card numbers. In almost all cases, the IRS
will contact you by mail.
