He says the larger version of sparklers are illegal. He says if you’re going to purchase fireworks at a roadside stand ask what’s safe to use with kids.

Food Safety

Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller urges residents to play it safe when it comes to food safety this 4th of July. She offers a few tips like not mixing raw foods such as meats with prepared foods. She says make sure you use clean plates especially if you’re using one to transport raw and then cooked meat from the grill. She says the same plate you use for raw meat shouldn’t be used for cooked food unless it’s been washed first. She also recommends washing your hands frequently if you’re preparing or serving food and not leaving foods out to long unsealed.

Weather Radios Available Through County Clerk’s Office

It may only save you a buck or two, but the Fond du Lac County Clerk’s Office still has NOAA Weather radios for sale. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says they have 20 to 25 radios left at their office, which they are selling for $28 a piece. She says whether you live in a city or rural area they are a dependable way of learning when a severe weather watch or warning is issued. She says in addition to their office some of the brand name stores also sell them for a couple dollars more. She says to her it’s a worthwhile investment in your safety.
