An elderly Fond du Lac man suffered minor injuries when a street sweeper collided with a riding lawn mower at 12th and Linden Streets Thursday morning. It happened about 9:45 a.m. The man reportedly suffered minor injuries including abrasions to his left ankle. He was not transported to the hospital.

 

Two Arrested For Prostitution In Oshkosh

 

Oshkosh Police arrested two Milwaukee women for prostitution Wednesday following an undercover investigation at an adult dance establishment in the 2100 block of Jackson Street. A 19-year-old woman was arrested for prostitution and issued a municipal citation for under age drinking. A 28-year-old woman was arrested for prostitution and felony marijuana possession. Police also took a 21-year-old Oshkosh woman into custody on an outstanding warrant and a 64-year-old woman was cited for serving underage drinkers.

 

Mayville Couple Gets Deferred Prosecution On Child Neglect Charges

 

Child neglect charges against a Mayville couple will be dropped if they live up to terms of a deferred prosecution agreement they reached with Dodge County officials. Christopher Wenzel has pled “no contest” and Michelle Giese pled “guilty” to a pair of misdemeanors. Authorities removed a three-year-old girl and four-year-old boy from an apartment in March. Prosecutors say the 24-year-olds were raising two toddlers in their own filth, rotting food and garbage. Charges will be dropped against the couple if they live up to terms of the agreement for a year.

 

Oshkosh Sex Offender Moves

 

An Oshkosh sex offender has moved into a new address. Oshkosh Police say 30-year-old John Moore is now living at 141A High Avenue. Moore has two sexual assault convictions, one in 2003 and another in 2007. His victims were a 14-year-old boy, 16-year-old girls and a woman he met in a bar. He is on lifetime GPS registration. 

 

Roundabouts Guides Being Distributed To Some FDL Businesses

 

Fond du Lac County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says they’ve printed up some laminated guides to how to get through the roundabouts that are being built on West Pioneer Road at Hickory and Morris Streets. It shows how to navigate through the roundabouts. He says local businesses in the area of West Pioneer Road will have some of those guides. Janke says residents shouldn’t find the roundabouts on Pioneer Road that intimidating. He says you can also get a copy at the Highway Department’s Dixie Street office in Fond du Lac. The West Pioneer Road project is expected to wrap up in early November. WisDOT Roundabout Video. 

Macy Street Repairs Next Week

 

Fond du Lac Public Works officials say a portion of Macy Street will be closed for pavement repairs beginning next Monday. The southbound lane of Macy Street between Johnson Street and Rees Street will be closed for pavement repairs. Northbound traffic will not be impacted. The repair work is expected to be completed by the end of the day next Thursday, with closure barricades being removed early next Friday morning.

 

Testimony Taken On Drunken Driving Legislation

 

(Wisconsin Radio Network)-A plea from a grieving dad at the State Capitol Thursday. Paul Jenkins of Mequon lost his pregnant daughter and 10 year-old granddaughter to a drunk driver in 2008. Jenkins notes Wisconsin has not enacted any new drunk driving laws since 2009, and at the time, lawmakers promised to do more. He says since December of 2009 more than 700 people have been killed by drunken drivers and over 10,000 people injured. An Assembly committee held a hearing on three bills Thursday. One makes third offense drunk driving a felony, another requires a mandatory sentence of at least six months in drunken driving crashes resulting in injury, and a third calls for a mandatory minimum of ten years in prison for drunk driving homicides.

 

NFDL Student Handbooks Go Paperless

 

North Fond du Lac Schools Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says the student, co-curricular and athletic handbooks were recently updated. He says it’s based on a code of conduct known as the “Oriole Way.” He says it’s about being prepared, showing respect, and being safe. He says they’ve also gone paperless with the handbooks for older students those students in middle school and high school will be able to get copies of the handbooks through the pdf computer format. He says they also have handbooks for their adult employees that outlines what the district expects from them and what they can expect from the district.

 

Military Appreciation Cruise In FDL

 

Mercury Marine and other area sponsors will host an appreciation dinner and boat cruise next Monday for past and present members of the military who reside in Fond du Lac County. The dinner will be at the Fond du Lac Yacht Club at Lakeside Marina on the east side of Lakeside Park. Earl Jewett says it’s a way to thank veterans, retired military and active duty service members who live in Fond du Lac County. All seats have been filled. Dinner at the Yacht Club begins at 5 p.m. and an evening cruise on Lake Winnebago will follow. Jewett says they appreciate Mercury Marine and other sponsors for the event. Other sponsors include the Fond du Lac Yacht Club, the Fond du Lac Sailing Club, and the Fond du Lac Boating Club.

 

Honor Flight At EAA AirVenture Today

 

A proud, but relatively new tradition will be one of the highlights of EAA AirVenture today. An Old Glory Honor Flight will leave the grounds at Wittman Regional Airport with 100 Vietnam Veterans who will be flown to Washington, D.C. to visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and other memorials. EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski says the veterans will return at the conclusion of the afternoon air show. The special flight will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the end of hostilities in the Vietnam War. Also today at AirVenture Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will perform and there will be a special screening of “Disney’s Planes.”

Who decided which veterans got to go on the Military Appreciation Cruise? It states all seats have been filled. Was there an invitation sent out? If so, I never got one.

I never saw anything on this cruise and dinner also from mercury. I also didnt know about the honor flight from oshkosh for vietnam veterans. My husband is a disabled vietnam veteran. How do we get included in these things.

Do any of you belong to an veterans club? They where given this information a few months ago. Or ask a veteran that belongs to one.
