Going After Motor Coach Tours

The president of the Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau says they are hoping to attract motor coach tours to the area. Craig Molitor says it’s an area of tourism they haven’t courted before. He says they started out by bringing in a specialist Mary Dennis and then brought in other motor coach tour planners to see some of the area’s attractions. Some of the sites they saw were the Horicon Marsh, the Fond du Lac lighthouse, Jim & Linda’s, Schreiner’s and other sites in the County. He says they also took them to supper clubs and introduce them to old fashions. He says the two groups enjoyed themselves tremendously. Molitor says they did generate some interest. He says motor coach tours generally bring in groups of 50 people who will stay over for two nights.

She says the building has been used mainly for industrial-type operations over the years. She says it’s zoned for commercial-use, but is a warehouse type of building. The City’s Plan Commission is recommending approval of the special use permit.
