Germantown Man Pleads To Child Porn Charge

A 42-year-old Germantown man pled guilty to child porn possession and exposing a child to harmful material charges in Washington County Court Friday morning. Roland Maanga is a native of Tanzania. According to the criminal complaint he exchanged naked photos with an 11-year-old Minnesota boy online. The two met in an adult chat room. As part of a plea agreement two more counts of possession of child porn were dismissed. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered and a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for January 19th.

Governor Appoints Bradley To State Supreme Court

Governor Scott Walker Friday announced the appointment of Judge Rebecca Bradley to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Judge Bradley will replace Justice N. Patrick Crooks, who recently passed away. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to appoint Rebecca Bradley to our state’s highest court,” said Governor Walker.  Governor Walker appointed Judge Bradley to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2012 and District I Court of Appeals in May of 2015. She was elected in a contested election to retain the Milwaukee County seat in 2013 with bipartisan support and a wide range of endorsements. “I warmly welcome Judge Rebecca Bradley to the Wisconsin Supreme Court,” said Chief Justice Patience D. Roggensack. “

Amazon Scam

The division administrator for the State’s Trade and Consumer Protection Department says a recent scam attacks Amazon users. Frank Frasetto says it starts with an email with “Important Notice” in the subject line. It notifies you a small number of accounts have been hacked and that they need you to verify your account. He says whatever you do don’t click on the link, which he says sends you to a page that looks like the real Amazon site, but is a way for them to gather information about you and try and rip you off.  He says the best thing to do is delete the email.

Fill The Helmet Goes To Lambeau Field

Firefighters efforts to provide child ID kits for every child in Wisconsin gets a boost Sunday when the Fill-the-Helmet campaign goes to Lambeau Field for the Packers-Rams game. Fond du Lac Fire Lieutenant Todd Shippee says the effort began successfully in Fond du Lac, but they want to provide the kits for the over 900,000 children throughout the state. That would come to needing about $1.2 million in donations. He says after that initial effort there will a maintenance component each year for new kindergartners. Each kit includes a DNA swab and inkless fingerprint kit should they ever be needed in the event that a child goes missing.

Monsters March On Halloween In Downtown FDL

Monsters, princesses, action heroes & other costumed characters are invited to march down Main Street in Fond du Lac on October 31 from 10 a.m. until Noon. Children (and adults) in costume may trick-or-treat for free at participating downtown businesses and farmers market vendors on Main Street between Merrill Avenue and Fourth Street. Families are also encouraged to stop at Main Street Plaza to have photos taken for a costume contest. 

Night Of Caroling Being Set Up In NFDL

A North Fond du Lac Village trustee hopes to launch a new Christmas time tradition this December. Village Trustee Tammy Keller is organizing a night of caroling at Yellowstone Trail Park on Tuesday, December 15th at 6 p.m. Village Administrator Chuck Hornung says Keller is even arranging for a music director in what is sure to be a special evening. He says there will be hot chocolate and Santa may even pay a visit during the caroling.
