Senator Grothman Takes Exception To Campaign Ad

State Senator Glenn Grothman says nasty campaign ads are part of the game, but a TV ad being run against him in his bid for the 6th Congressional District seat is something he takes exception to. The Republican from Campbellsport says one of the bills he introduced as a state legislature was designed to warn single parents about letting others live in their home around their children. He says it stemmed from two murders that occurred while he was living in West Bend. He says the TV ad smears him for being against single parents when in fact it was designed to protect children from potential abuse and violence.

Littles Urged To Try New Experiences

Introducing children to new experiences is something adults participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters bring to the program. Tammy Young is the executive director of the Fond du Lac County chapter. She says kids are a little leery of trying new foods or activities. She says she recently was made privy to a conversation someone had about that very topic with their seven-year-old. The adult urged the child not to be afraid to try something new. She says all of their “Bigs” are screened before they enter the program. Currently they have over 100 matches, but still have a waiting list of about 70 children.
