Pleased With Interstate Designation
State
Senator Rick Gudex says he’s glad to see Highway 41 has become an interstate
because it will mean more economic development for the area. The state lawmaker

see the highway upgraded to an interstate. He says now that’s it’s a federal
highway he’s not sure who will fund maintenance of the interstate, but the
state will be on the hook for changing about 3,000 signs over for the new
interstate designation.
Anticipation

students last year, 775-780 this year and expect about 800 for next year. She
says part of that increase in enrollment is likely due to the $24 million
building project which broke ground this week.
She says
they are averaging about a 9 percent growth in enrollment over the past few
years and she attributes a lot of that to the project. She says as people see
the construction going on they expect it may generate more growth in
enrollment.
Beacon
House Auction Sunday
Over 200
live and silent auctions items will be auctioned off during the 17th Annual
Beacon House Auction Sunday at the
du Lac
a.m. to 3 p.m. with the auction beginning at noon. Beacon House Executive
Director Mary Gerlach says they have nice packages up for auction. There will
also be concessions and a 50/50 raffle. She says the event helps them deal with
costs for their 125 year old facility. The Beacon House is a residential
treatment facility for women in recovery for alcohol or drug addictions.

Stroebel Receives Committee Assignments
New State
Senator Duey Strobel received his committee assignments this week. State Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald
of
the appointments. Strobel, who
represents the 20th State Senate District, will chair the Government Operations
and Consumer Protection Committee. He will also serve on the Workforce
Development, Public Works, and Military Affairs and Financial Institutions and
Rural Issues Committees. Stroebel won a special election to the Senate seat
formerly held by Congressman Glenn Grothman.
