Ripon Man Sentenced For Disorderly Conduct

The 45-year-old Ripon man suspected of robbing a Kwik Trip in Oshkosh earlier this month has been sentenced for a disorderly conduct incident in Fond du Lac County. William Vessell pled no contest to the disorderly conduct charge and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He will be arraigned on armed robbery and bail jumping charges in Winnebago County Court on February 10th. He’s being held in Winnebago County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond. Vessell was released from prison in 2003 after serving time for a Milwaukee County robbery. Two weeks later he stole a wallet from a 58-year-old Fond du Lac woman at the Pick ‘n Save Store on West Pioneer Road. He was sent back to prison. The Kwik Trip in Oshkosh was robbed on January 3rd.

Waupun Man Charged For Allegedly Selling Drugs

A 29-year-old Waupun man is facing charges for allegedly selling drugs to police informants. Christopher Pultz made his initial appearance in Dodge County Court this week on seven charges, six of them are felonies. According to the criminal complaint an informant bought drugs at Pultz’s home three times since last fall. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found at his home when a search warrant was executed last week. A $1,000 signature bond was set. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 17th. 

Grothman Attending AFP Town Hall Event

Americans for Prosperity – Wisconsin is hosting a town hall event with Congressman Glenn Grothman at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at their Sheboygan field office. That office is located at 528 South Pier Drive.  The event will feature dialogue on free market policy between AFP activists, citizens, and elected officials.

Fargo Success Could Work In FDL

What does Fargo, North Dakota have that Fond du Lac does not? Those attending the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Evening next Thursday will get some perspective on that. Jim Cleveland of the FCEDC says their featured speaker is from Fargo. Greg Tehven will talk about what they did to promote economic development in Fargo. Cleveland says officials in Fargo were able to change perceptions about their city and create and economic resurgence, something that could work for Fond du Lac too. The annual evening at the UW-Fond du Lac will also include the announcement of the 2015 Annual and Lifetime Economic Development Achievement Award recipients. The evening runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 929-2928 and can also be made online. 

Wine Around The World

The Fond du Lac Morning Rotary will be holding their 23rd Annual Wine Around the World Benefit at the end of the month. The chair of the event, Barb Senn, says they will be at the Holiday Inn in Fond du Lac for Saturday, January 30th benefit. She says that is a new location for them. She says to date the Morning Rotary has given over $750,000 to worthy local and international programs. She says this year the event will benefit the Birthday Books program. Through the program every child kindergarten through 5th grade gets a brand new book on their birthday. General tasting will be from 7 to 9:30 that evening. There will also be a silent auction, 50/50 cash prize raffle and much more. A limited number of reservations are available for a very special Reserve Room dining experience from 5 to 7 p.m. General admission tickets are available at Festival Foods, from Morning Rotary Club members and online.

The Ripon Medical Center Auxiliary is sponsoring a new flower sale to raise money for Ripon Medical Center programs and services, as well student scholarships. Order forms are available at the Ripon Medical Center information desk and gift shop, or by visiting the Agnesian website. Completed forms can be dropped off, along with a check for payment of the order, at the Ripon Medical Center gift shop, or mailed to the attention of the Ripon Medical Center Auxiliary at 845 Parkside Street, Ripon.
