Meeting On Hwy 23 And County K Turn Lanes Tonight
The state’s Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting on the State Highway 23 and County Highway K project tonight. It’s from 5 to 7 p.m. at the UW-Fond du Lac, University Commons Rooms UC 113 and 114. There will be a short presentation at 5:15 p.m., followed by an open-house format. Mark Kantola of the DOT says officials from the City and County will also be on hand to answer questions. He says the meeting is important because it gives the public a chance to talk with the engineers designing the project and review maps and displays. Improvements will include slotted left turn lanes on Highway 23 at County Highway K. Installation of right turn islands on County K and removal of the median crossover immediately to the west of the intersection. Construction will happen this fall.
Tornado Awareness
As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, Fond du Lac County will be taking part in a pair of Tornado Drills today. Jim McNabb of the Fond du Lac County Emergency Management says that the first will begin at 1pm, with 1:45pm slated for the simulated tornado warning. For the 1st time, a 2nd drill will take place at 6:55pm tonight so people at home or out and about to review what they would do if severe weather strikes then.
Feyen Gains Endorsement
Republican 18th State Senate District candidate Dan Feyen has received another endorsement. Byron Town Chair Bob Simon says that he supports Feyen in this November’s election. Feyen is vying for the seat being vacated by current State Senator Rick Gudex.
