City Council OK’s Pedal Pubs
The
du Lac
pedal pubs in the city during Wednesday night’s meeting. Greg Giles,
Brian Kolstad, and Brian Foster voted against it. Pedal pubs were legal
under state law, but local municipalities had the option to not allow them.
At 12:40 PM on 9-9-15, the Oshkosh Police
Department and the Oshkosh Fire Department were called to the 600 block of
report of a person that fell 5 stories from a building. A 20 year old male from
died due to injuries sustained in the fall.
The Oshkosh Police Department, in conjunction with the Winnebago County
Coroner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA),
are continuing to investigate. The name
of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of
family.

Supports
Nuke Deal

Wisconsin congressman Ron Kind is on board with the
understands the concerns of members of Congress who oppose the
deal, which the La Crosse Democrat supports. Kind says the the pact is
“not perfect,” but if
abides by its terms, it buys the west a 10-to-15 year delay in the country’s
push to obtain nuclear weapons.
UW Madison
Ranking
(WRN) U-S
News and World Report has released it’s latest college rankings, with the UW
Madison being ranked the 11th best public college. The rankings include more
than 260 doctoral universities and will be included in the 2016 edition of
Colleges.
The Methodology
used to produce the rankings include retention and graduation rates, academic
reputation, financial and faculty resources and student selectivity.
The
UW-Madison was also ranked as the 33rd
for Veterans.
The Oshkosh
Police Department reports a 19 year-old male from Oshkosh was arrested for
battery to a police officer and resisting arrest after he was located urinating
at the intersection of Wisconsin Ave. at W. Lincoln Ave on Monday. . As
officers went to put handcuffs on the male, the male swung his elbow back and
struck a female officer in the face. The male was eventually taken into custody
and taken to jail. He also received citations for urinating in public and
consumption of alcohol by underage person. The female officer was injured
during the incident.
Coats For
Kids Is Underway
The annual
Coats for Kids collection is underway in the area. Fond du Lac Salvation Army
Director of Social Services Ron Jacobson says there are quite a few locations in
town where you can drop off coats. He says they have over 30 locations where
people can drop off new or gently used coats. Sue Petrack owns a resale shop in
the former ReStore location on
Brooke Street
for the effort and are giving 50 percent off purchases to anyone who donates a
coat. All sizes are needed, but there is a particular need for extra large
coats.
