The Rosendale-Brandon School Board last night discussed the possibility of year-round school for some students, but did not vote on the issue. During the
meeting results of a survey were released. A total of 412 surveys were handed out to families. Among those responding 64 were in favor of the idea,
38 said they might consider it and 60 opposed the idea. The remainder did not respond to the survey. One possible drawback for the year round program
for Kindergartners through 5th graders would be the cost of hiring two more teachers, which could be up to $130,000. No time line was set for revisiting
the issue. There are four other school districts in
Ripon Off Duty Police Officer Attacked At Grocery Store
A 24-year-old Ripon man attacked an off-duty Ripon Police officer at the Ripon Pick ‘N Save Store last Friday evening. The man became upset when the store
would not cash his out of state check. As he was leaving the store he punched a man who was entering the store in the face. That man was an off-duty
Ripon Police Officer who was able to get the suspect off of him. The off-duty officer pulled his off-duty weapon on the suspect and ordered him to
the ground. That’s when other police officers arrived and took the suspect into custody. The off-duty officer was treated for head and facial injuries
at the

search for the hit-and-run driver responsible for the death of Kathryn (Klingzing) Theis. Theis was visiting her daughter and the two
were crossing a street early one morning last March when they were struck by a car. The car sped away from the scene. Theis died about
an hour later at a hospital. Her daughter was treated for a broken wrist. Theis worked as a CPA and attorney in
The car he hit Theis with was dismantled at a chop shop. A tip to police led to his arrest.
Medical Condition Led To Mayville Accident
(WBEV-Beaver Dam)-Mayville Police say a medical condition is being considered the reason a 92-year-old man struck ten parked cars in the parking lot of
the Mayville Piggly Wiggly. Police responded to the location last Friday afternoon. No significant injuries were reported, and several vehicles were
towed from the scene. The matter is under investigation.
Primary Election Today
State Senate Special Election and two town supervisor spots on the Calumet Town Board. There are 11 towns and villages that will be
voting on the Senate seat. She says it’s unfortunate more people won’t be voting because the 3 Republicans running for the 20th State
Senate seat are the only candidates in the election and the winner will likely have no opposition in April. The Senate seat became
available when Senator Glenn Grothman resigned to take his seat in Congress.
Stroebel Running For 20th State Senate Seat
losing to eventual winner Glenn Grothman. Stroebel is now running for the 20th State Senate seat that Grothman resigned from to take his
seat in Congress. Stroebel says he would be a good fit for the seat. Stroebel says he’s in favor of right to work legislation and the expansion
of school vouchers. He says he’s not in favor of bonding to balance the state budget. He also favors the Governor’s plan for drug testing
for those receiving welfare benefits. Stroebel is one of three Republicans running for the 20th State Senate seat today. The winner faces
no opposition in the April election.
Senator Gudex Responds To High Capacity Well Opposition
State Senator Rick Gudex says a measure known as LRB 1446 would restore some rights to high capacity well owners. The state lawmaker from Fond du Lac says
prior to the State Supreme Court’s Lake Beulah decision in 2011, landowners knew that once their high capacity wells were approved by the DNR, the
could depend on those wells as long as they remained within the parameters placed on them by the DNR and state law. He says LRRB protects high capacity
well owners and in particular farmers. He says permits for high capacity wells would go with a property when it’s sold. He says as the law stands now
the DNR could reassess the permits when a property is being sold with high capacity well permits. He says LRB 1446 would also allow the landowner to
replace a high capacity well or repair it to the same substantial depth and size within a 75 foot radius of the well that’s not functioning.
Elks Club Holds Save Our Lodge Meeting

looking for is for members to give a minimum of one hour a month of their time.” He says if they could get 100 members to give an hour of time

do need people to help with their charitable efforts that include the soccer and hoops shoots, working with veterans, and sending handicapped

A visioning process for
