Lomira Schools Referendum
Voters in the Lomira School
District go to the polls today to consider a $24
million referendum. If approved the referendum would pay for improvements to
the K-12 facility in Lomira and the 4K-through-5th grade facility in Theresa.
The tax impact would be $1.75 per thousand dollars of value on a property or
$175 on a home worth $100,000. Lomira Schools Superintendent Bob Lloyd says
some of that tax impact will be lessened with the retirement of the debt on the
1995 referendum and property tax relief from the state. He says it’s always
going to be a lot of money, but they may never have better time for such a

Fire Department says that everyone got out safe and there were no
injuries. He says the Red Cross was
called in and the investigation continues into the cause. The time of the call
was 11:05am on Monday.
TIF District Will Help Alliance Expansion
Project In Ripon
City officials in Ripon are
setting up a Tax Incremental Finance or TIF District to aid an expansion
project by Alliance Laundry Systems. City Administrator Lori Rich says the
Council recently approved a resolution for the project plan and boundaries for
the TIF District. She says all that remains now is for the Joint Review Board
to approve it, which will make TIF District 12 official. The $46 million
expansion project next to Alliance
existing facility could create up to 150 new jobs. The Fond du Lac County
Board last fall approved a $6 million to help with the project.
Oshkosh Officers Hurt
Three Oshkosh Police
Officers were injured after they attempted to take a 22 year-old male from Milwaukee into custody on
Saturday afternoon while on a noise complaint in the 1100 block of West New York Avenue.
A 22 year-old male who was in the
apartment attempted to run from officers and began a physical fight. The male was arrested for two warrants from
different WI agencies; Resisting an Officer Causing Injury to Law Enforcement
Officers (Felony); Possession of Marijuana; and Bail Jumping. The three officers received injuries ranging
from thigh, neck, face, and arm. The 44 year-old male, who the original
incident was about, was found not to be in violation of city ordinance and was
Senator Johnson Town Hall Meeting In FDL Today
U.S. Senator Ron Johnson
will be holding a Town Hall meeting in Fond
du Lac this afternoon. It will be at the City-County Government Center
from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chambers. Everyone is welcome to
attend. During the meeting the federal
lawmaker from Oshkosh
will give his State of the Nation presentation, which highlights the fiscal
challenges our country faces today.
Following the presentation he will take questions from the audience.
