Lomira Schools Referendum Today

Voters in the Lomira School District go to the polls today to consider a $24 million referendum. If approved the referendum would pay for improvements to the K-12 facility in Lomira and the 4K-through-5th grade facility in Theresa. The tax impact would be $1.75 per thousand dollars of value on a property or $175 on a home worth $100,000. Lomira Schools Superintendent Bob Lloyd says some of that tax impact will be lessened with the retirement of the debt on the 1995 referendum and property tax relief from the state. He says it’s always going to be a lot of money, but they may never have better time for such a project.

TIF District Will Help Alliance Expansion Project In Ripon

City officials in Ripon are setting up a Tax Incremental Finance or TIF District to aid an expansion project by Alliance Laundry Systems. City Administrator Lori Rich says the Council recently approved a resolution for the project plan and boundaries for the TIF District. She says all that remains now is for the Joint Review Board to approve it, which will make TIF District 12 official. The $46 million expansion project next to Alliance existing facility could create up to 150 new jobs. The Fond du Lac County Board last fall approved a $6 million to help with the project.
