A 48-year-old Campbellsport man was flown to Froedtert Hospital after an accident on Highway 67 and River Drive in Campbellsport Sunday night. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say John Westcott drove onto the shoulder of the road, over corrected, went off the road and over turned. Westcott was injured and was unconscious when rescuers arrived. Flight for Life flew him to Froedtert. It’s suspected he may have been intoxicated. The accident was reported shortly after 8:30 Sunday night.

Second Man Sentenced To Prison For Washington County Heroin Death

The second of three men charged in the heroin overdose death of Jeff Erickson in April of 2013 will spend eight years in prison. Twenty-six-year-old Tyler Schroeder of Neosho was sentenced last Friday in Washington County Court. He will also be on extended supervision for eight years after his prison release. Schroeder was the man who set up the buy with Twan Parham for the heroin that killed Erickson. While Schroeder attempted to portray himself as just the guy who made a phone call, Judge Todd Martens told him – quote – without people like you, people would not be dying of heroin overdoses in Washington County. Parham is serving a ten year prison sentence. The final defendant – Clayton Selsing – the man accused of setting up the needle for the overdose – is due back in court later this month.

Wisconsin Sex Offender Caught In Minnesota

Waupaca County Sheriff’s officials say a 53-year-old sex offender missing for more than a year was found in Minnesota. Phillip Rath had cut off his monitoring bracelet in April of 2014 and had been missing ever since. He was staying at his mother’s house when he removed the bracelet. Officials say it’s not the first time he had removed a monitoring bracelet. Two months before he disappeared he’d cut his bracelet off, but was found within a few miles of home in less than a day’s time.  In 1993 Rath was convicted of sexually assaulting a child. He’s currently being held in Minnesota.

Villa Loretto And Villa Rosa Sign Letter Of Intent With Agnesian

The Villa Loretto nursing home and Villa Rosa assisted living center in Mt. Calvary will become part of Agnesian HealthCare. The Congregation of the Sisters of Christ the King has entered into a Letter of Intent with Agnesian. Sisters of Christ the King general superior Sister Stephen Bloesl says, “With the number of Sisters in our Congregation declining, we find it necessary to think about the future and how to best meet the needs of those we serve.” She says they wanted a partner that had a strong reputation with the service of people and the community as its central focus.” She added that he Sister Servants of Christ the King feel strongly that Agnesian HealthCare is the best fit for our residents, staff and community.” As part of the transition the sisters will continue to operate their farm as long as they can. By signing a Letter of Intent, the necessary steps can be taken to evaluate and work toward transferring Villa Loretto and Villa Rosa over to Agnesian HealthCare. Steve Little, Agnesian HealthCare president and chief executive officer says, “Villa Loretto, which offers assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services in Mt. Calvary, shares our common goal of bringing quality and efficient care to area residents and carrying forward the legacy of Catholic healthcare.”

New Deputies Came Out Of Jail System

Two of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies now undergoing field training came out of the County Jail system. Back in the day many deputies with the Sheriff’s Department got their start in the jail. Deputy Henry Guell GILL says it’s a good way to learn how to deal with a variety of people. He says he grew up in the Waucousta area. He says he got his inspiration to be in law enforcement at an early age. He says when he was little kid a Sheriff’s deputy pulled into the driveway and gave him a plastic badge. Deputy Mike Vis says he’s wanted to be a cop since junior high. He says he also wanted to be in the military and went into the Navy after some time at the UW-Oshkosh’s criminal justice program. He finished his degree after 5 years in the Navy.

Second Phase Of Entrance Construction At MPTC FDL Campus Set

The director of finance for Moraine Park Technical College says a second phase of construction is scheduled to add on to the new entrance at the school’s Fond du Lac campus. Carrie Kasubaski says its set to begin next May. She says it will connect with the A-wing. She says it will enhance what they already have. She says it will provide more area for students and guest and should be done in November of 2016.

Inner City Kids Spend Day On Rosendale Farm

The Director of Agricultural Programs for the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce says even kids from the inner city have an idea of what’s going on on the Farm. Brenda Gudex says during the past month she spent some time with Lomira FFA members at one farm on May 6th and a group from a Milwaukee private school on May 12th. She says the kindergarten students from Milwaukee St. Marcus Lutheran School knew a thing or two because their teacher, Kaitlyn Wiese, is from an area farm. Her parents Bill and Tammy Wiese have a dairy farm in Rosendale. Gudex says the taught the 4K students about planting flowers. She says as young as the kids were they were well taught by Kaitlyn about the farm already. A number of generous sponsors made the day possible.

National Exchange Petting Zoo Saturday

National Exchange Bank & Trust will host the 31st Annual Petting Zoo this Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the 130 South Main Street office in Fond du Lac. The free community appreciation event is open to the public. It will feature a variety of farm animals, pony rides, dairy games, prizes and more. A sampling of Wisconsin’s finest dairy products will be available including several cheese varieties, toasted cheese sandwiches, butter popcorn and milk. Entertainment will include a cheese carver on site throughout the morning and two performances of Nick’s Kids Show at 9:15 and 10:15 a.m. The Cheesy Wisconsin Snack Competition between four local 4-H clubs will be held at 10 a.m. In addition to the Petting Zoo activities, there’s the Farmers Market.
