Obama Visits
President Barack Obama made an appearance in

Two Fatal Accidents Over
Two people lost their lives in traffic accidents over Labor Day weekend

FDL Fire Dept Equipment
Needs
The
purchase a new engine/rescue vehicle in 2015. Assistant Fire Chief Steve Beer
recently outlined the department’s budget needs for the City Council. He says
the next engine they have to replace won’t have to be purchased until 2020.
Beer says they are doing their best to make the fleet they have last as long as
possible and hope to get 30 years out of their ladder truck. He says their goal
is to provide the same level of service, but reduce costs where they can and are
expecting reduce overtime costs by $110,000 next year. Beer notes they
responded to 7,000 calls for service last year.
Food For Thought Introduced
To NFDL Students
Consider an effort at the
du Lac
cuisine for the mind or if you will “Food for Thought.” That’s the name of the
restaurant and lab that Jill Lewinski of the Family and Consumer Education
Department is introducing to students this year. North Fond du Lac Schools
Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says it’s a great idea that will be able to teach
kids soft skills needed for future employment. Sadoff says they hope in a year
or two that “Food for Thought” will be something they will be able to open up
to the public.
Highway Construction
(WRN) With work on highway construction projects resuming in
morning after the holiday weekend, there’s some catching up to do. That from
Don Greuel chief project engineer for the DOT. Greuel says there’s a lot
of work left to do still, with major projects all around the state. He says the
construction season typically ends in mid-to-late November, but some years it
can be extended into early December.
