Governor Says Wisconsin Companies Have Vision To Compete Globally

During a visit to Fond du Lac for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Wells Vehicle Electronics Governor Scott Walker talked about a recent ranking by CNBC placing Wisconsin fifth in terms of new manufacturing jobs. Walker says that doesn’t happen without the vision of Wisconsin companies and communities. He says it takes companies like Wells and the vision they have that allows companies in the state to compete with anyone in the world.

School Bus Laws

School starts for most of the public schools this week across the state of Wisconsin, and with that means a large number of school buses are out on city and county roads.  Steve Olson of the Fond du Lac Police Department says that if a school bus is not moving with its red lights flashing you must stop at least 20 feet away from it.

Flu Vaccines Available Through Health Dept

It’s not quite the season to get your influenza vaccine, but Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the health department does have nasal mist and flu shots available. She says anytime is okay to be vaccinated against the flu. Mueller says they will be visiting schools this fall to vaccinate children against the flu. She says those who would like to get vaccinated through the health department can stop by their office in the City-County Building in Fond du Lac or call 929-3085 to learn more.

Ripon Seeks Solutions To Foundry’s Flooding Problem

Officials in Ripon are working with a foundry that built its facility near Silver Creek year’s ago. During significant rain events storm sewers back up the waters get into AFK Corporation’s building on Pacific Street. City Administrator Lori Rich says normally they wouldn’t allow a facility to be built so close to a creek, but the company is grandfathered in. She says they will continue to work with the company to come up with a solution. She says they’ve offered help in the past with engineering solutions, but there would be costs involved.
