Dodge County Chase Leads To Basement Of Suspect’s Home

Dodge County Sheriff’s Deputies found a 47-year-old Beaver Dam man who led them on a high speed chase hiding in the basement of his home early Friday morning. Sheriff’s officials say it began as a traffic stop on Highway 151 in the Town of Calamus. While the deputy was questioning the man the deputy saw what look like a controlled substance and the man took off. During the pursuit deputies reached speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour. The man fled on foot after his car struck a curve in the City of Beaver Dam and a tire deflated. He was located later at his home hiding in his basement. The man was taken into custody on a probation violation, but faces a number of charges. He told investigators he fled because he didn’t want to go back to prison. The chase lasted just over 5 miles.

Harbor Haven Improvements Nearly Complete

Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel says improvements to the Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation should be completed in the next 2 to 3 weeks. He says it will be very pleasing to those who use and very functional. The County Board supervisors will get to see the improvements for themselves during a May 21st tour of the facility at 6 p.m. that evening. Buechel says there will also be an open house at Harbor Haven for the public. The County put nearly $1.4 million in improvements in the facility hoping to make it more self sufficient. Some of the revenue from the County sales tax was used to fund the improvements rather than bonding for the project and adding it to the County debt.

He says he is willing to take a look at that, but just how much they may be able to do that depends on how the state can pay for it.  Gudex recently met with North Fond du Lac Schools Superintendent Aaron Sadoff and also toured some Fond du Lac schools.

One of the things you hear every year during Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week is how important it is to have a weather radio. Well soon you might be able to get them through your county emergency management office. Fond du Lac County Communications and Emergency Management Director James McNabb says they are working with Winnebago County to see if they can purchase some NOAA (NOAH) weather radios to resell to the public. NOAA weather radios are activated when a watch or warning is issued by National Weather Service or through spotter activation.
