Cause Of Fatal Fire In Sheboygan Undetermined

(WHBL-Sheboygan)-The cause of a fire last month which claimed the life of a Sheboygan man has been listed as undetermined.  The fire in an apartment on Ashland Avenue on April 30th claimed the life of 51-year-old Randi Hein.  Fire Chief Jeff Hermann said the investigation determined that the fire started in the living room, but investigators were never able to come up with a cause.  Hein was in a remote-controlled chair and managed to get to a window, but died of smoke inhalation.  Firefighters had to rescue several tenants who were trapped on the 2nd floor of the apartment building.

Transition To Sixth Grade Causes Some Anxiety

School counselors in the Fond du Lac School District last week spent a day with fifth graders talking about a stressful subject, the transition to sixth grade or middle school. Kristi Serwe is a counselor at Riverside Elementary School. She says middle school counselors and principals have already visited with fifth graders to introduce themselves, but it was visits from sixth graders who have already made the transition that clicked the most with the fifth graders. One of their biggest fears something every student at one time or another thinks about, getting stuffed into a locker. Serwe says they advised the fifth graders on what they should do if they are still anxious about the transition or a situation. She says they told them to handle things in a positive way and to think of people they feel comfortable discussing things with. For more on mental health a booklet is available at the Comprehensive Service Integration or CSI website on Accessing Mental Health Services in Fond du Lac County.
