Making A Murderer Impacting Trials

The Netflix series “Making a Murderer” is having an impact on some trials in the state. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says fortunately the series about Steven Avery and the murder of Teresa Halbach didn’t influence a jury pool for a recent murder trial in the county. But jurors in Green Lake County were asked if they’ve seen it when Nicolas Tuinstra was tried for a double homicide. He says it helped when they were trying Eve Nance for the murder of her husband Tim to have a juror questionnaire. Toney says he hasn’t watched the Netflix series. He says from what he’s read about it the series seemed to take a one-sided approach to the events that happened in the Avery case, but he hasn’t formed an up or down opinion about it.
