Making FDL More Welcoming

04-Dec-2017

The president and CEO of Envision Greater Fond du Lac feels it is important for Fond du Lac to be an even more welcoming community to attract new business and people needed for the workforce. Part of that effort includes having attractions that give families things to do together. Cecelia Harry says personal experiences are important for families and it is one of the reasons she came to Fond du Lac. For instance her family wanted to experience the trail system. Harry would like to see Envision inject new life into their programs to make it easier for existing families in the community to engage new families coming to Fond du Lac. She says no matter how welcoming a community feels it is, there is always room for improvement.

Before spending money on attractions how about creating a bus system that helps people get to and from work. The current system still leaves people walking most places and is not timely.

Fond du Lac needs a lot of work, and it seems like nobody cares. I haven't heard of Envision Greater Fond du Lac before, but it seems like a community that is actually caring about the issues. The youth are graduating from high school and leaving the city because there is absolutely nothing to do there for young people. No hang outs, youth under 21 cannot go to the numerous bars in the city, not even any youth-oriented restaurants except the Starbucks on every street corner. Meanwhile, as Damon says, there is no public transportation system. The city becomes seemingly gridlocked when a train goes by, and absolutely nothing is being done about it. Fond du Lac is a mess and there is nothing being done about it - it is good to see someone who is equally concerned about Fond du Lac's future in a position to create change in the community. I hope she is capable.
