Man Arrested For Third OWI After Hitting Tree

Fond du Lac firefighters had to cut a 25-year-old Fond du Lac man out of his vehicle after the vehicle went off West Scott Street early Monday morning and hit a tree. The accident happened just after 1:30 a.m. Police say he was heading west on the inner most lane at a high rate of speed. He lost control and swerved across both westbound lanes of traffic and struck a tree in the terrace in front of 291 West Scott Street. He was taken to St. Agnes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was also arrested for his third drunken driving offense and going too fast for conditions. There was heavy front end damage to the vehicle and it had to be towed from the scene on a flatbed.
