Man Convicted in Johnsonville Tampering Case

The man who tampered with sausages at a Johnsonville plant in Sheboygan County has been convicted. Jonathan Lane pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of tampering with a consumer product, while another count was dismissed.

Lane placed cigarette paper and wire connector in sausage links while working as a contract employee at the facility – before claiming to managers that he found the objects in the food. Prosecutors are also recommending that lane pay Johnsonville $42,000 in restitution. He is set to be sentenced in November – and could face up to ten years in prison.
