Man Reportedly Paralyzed in Drunk Driving Crash that Killed His Daughter

The man accused of causing a drunken driving crash that
killed his young daughter is reportedly paralyzed. Steven Brownell’s attorney
says he was left a quadriplegic after the crash. The 58-year old is charged
with Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a
Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration, and First Degree Reckless
Homicide.

Crews responded to the crash along Highway 45 in Winnebago County
back in August – where his vehicle went airborne and crashed into a cornfield. Brownell’s
10-year old daughter, Kherington, died at the scene – while he and his 13-year
old son were injured. Witnesses say Brownell had been driving recklessly and
swerving before going off the road – and his blood alcohol level tested over
three and a half time the legal limit to drive.
