Manning Makes City Council Bid

Fond du Lac City Council candidate Dan Manning is not only a newcomer to city politics, but also to the City. Manning moved to Fond du Lac a year and a half ago to work as a manufacturing engineer at Giddings & Lewis. But he says he’s not stranger to being involved in the community. He started the non-profit Salute the Troops organization that helps Veterans in need. He’s followed the Retlaw Hotel saga over unpaid taxes and fees owed the City. Manning says he would have opted to suspend the license for a short period of time to send a message to the owners North Main Hospitality. He says he would have chosen to suspend their license for at least 10 days. He says rather than cutting services he would use knowledge he’s gained at work to look for ways to be more efficient and save money. Manning is one of four candidates running for three seats on the Fond du Lac City Council. The others are Catherine Block, Sam Meyer and incumbent Rebecca Lunde Ross.

Endorsed by the SEIU and as co-president of Equality Wisconsin, is Dan Manning, candidate for FdL City Council, really going to promote "the best possible services, at the best possible cost" or favor government unions? Will he promote your values or those of his gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Equality Wisconsin? Educate yourself, every vote is important.

Why would the FDL Association of Commerce endorse a progressive liberal for city council? Dan Manning is also endorsed by Wisconsin Progress. Their website says: website: "Like you, we believe there should be more elected officials that are committed to progressive values. We want to see more diversity in the halls of power. Dan ran for the house of representatives as a liberal Democrat in 2010 when he lived in Kansas.

Over the years Fond du Lac has seen some very good and bad candidates for Fond du Lac City Council come and go. In a conservative community like Fond du Lac Dan Manning would represent on the worse choice we could ever make. Look at his website. He has left out all his ultra-liberal activist activities. He is trying to fool us into voting for him. He told the Reporter he has never been in politics. This is a false statement. If will tell this big a whopper before being elected how could you ever trust anything he will say on the city council. "Do Not Vote Manning!

If Dan is endorsed by the conservative Chamber of Commerce, then perhaps they see him as someone good willing to do the right thing instead of just basing themselves in hatred like the above comments are.

Congrats Dan. I work with Dan, great person, great heart and will make great decisions. Dan, there are always haters. That just means YOU are doing something. These lumps sit behind the computer all day.

It's very exciting to see Dan run for office. My husband and I had the chance to meet him on a charity bike ride, where he clearly stood out as a leader and an articulate and thoughtful person. We wish you the very best, Dan!

The only thing that would make him a bad politician is that he is honest,I know Dan very well. Good luck Dan. Your heart to serve is truely a wonderful thing. God Bless you my friend.
