Manufacturing Not What It Used To Be

Manufacturing continues to be a strong component in the area economy, but it is not what it once used to be. Marcia Arndt is the Associate Dean of Manufacturing at Moraine Park Technical College. She says at one time manufacturing made up nearly a third of the employment in the State of Wisconsin. She points out in the 1970s 30 percent of people worked in manufacturing, but now it makes up 18 to 20 percent of Wisconsin’s economy. Manufacturing will be highlighted during Moraine Park’s Discover Moraine Park events at its campuses in Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac and West Bend during the coming month.
