Marian University's George Koonce Receives Legend's Award

FOND DU LAC, Wis. –Marian University’s Dr. George Koonce was selected to win the Fellowship Open Legend’s Award. Dr. Koonce will receive the award at the annual event in August, 2018.

The Fellowship Open's principal objective is to work to support organizations that are having a meaningful and demonstrable difference on the lives of the youngsters in the City of Milwaukee. In the sixteen years that the Fellowship Open has been in existence, it has highlighted and contributed to organizations who are having a real impact on youth in the city.

The activities that the Fellowship Open has supported have affected literally thousands of youngsters in Milwaukee in all aspects of their development, including the arts, technology, job skills, and job readiness. Each year a group of youngsters are invited to participate in the event and meet with the honorary chairs. In addition, a number of students are provided personal computers for their use and development.

The Fellowship Open’s honorary chairs have selected Dr. George Koonce as the 2018 Fellowship Open Legend’s Award recipient. Dr. Koonce joins Henry Aaron, Junior Bridgeman, Wayne, Embry, Willie Davis, Herb Kohl, Frank Robinson, and Bud Selig, to name a few.

Marian University was founded in 1936 by the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, Wis. The institution has one of the lowest student-faculty ratios in the state, and strives to live its core values as a community committed to learning, dedicated to service and social justice and joined together by spiritual traditions. Marian offers undergraduate, adult, master’s and doctoral degree programs at its main campus and in facilities throughout Wisconsin.
