Mark Strand Runs For FDL School Board

Fond du Lac School Board member Mark Strand is seeking another three-year term on the board. Strand says both his parents were teachers and his wife and three kids are products of the Fond du Lac School District so education and giving back are important to him. He says the Board has to be fiscally responsible and also looking for creative ways of doing that. He says a good example of that was making six interpreters employees of the District rather than pay for them through Manpower Incorporated. He says the Board worked out a recent issue over a 1 percent pay hike for 28 administrators after some prolonged discussion, but he feels it was the right thing to do.  Strand also says they would like to get to the point where there are no teacher resignations, but people do move to other jobs. Strand, who is the County’s Chief Deputy Sheriff, says they have the same issue in law enforcement. He says one thing the School District can do a better job of is showing teachers they are valued. Strand is one of four candidates running for two seats on Board.
