Marquette to Reinstate Fired Professor

Marquette University will comply with an order from the state Supreme Court to reinstate a conservative professor, who was fired after criticizing a student instructor.

The court sided with John McAdams on Friday, ruling the school breached its contract guaranteeing academic freedom. The university argued the case was never about his free speech, but rather about a professor using a personal blog to mock a student teacher and expose her contact information to a “hostile audience”.

The post criticized the student instructor he believed shut down a discussion about opposition to gay marriage – and the graduate student ended up receiving a number of threats before transferring to another university.
