Martin Schroeder Runs For NFDL Village Board Presidency

16-Feb-2018

A candidate for the North Fond du Lac Village Board presidency would like to see the Village aim high when it comes to economic development and other efforts. Martin Schroeder feels it is inappropriate for the Village to settle for being thought of as a “Bedroom Community.” Schroeder says the Village and County teamed up on a 40,000 to 60,000 square foot virtual building in the business park which should draw some economic development. He says, “Now what that means to people coming in is if you want to build out there we’ve just cut about half of the time that it’s going to take you to get to building by committing to this virtual building site.” Schroeder would also like to work with the railroad to give them access to their industrial park. He serves on the Fond du Lac County Board and the County’s Housing Authority. When HUD required the Village to build some type of facility for smokers at a Village site he went to the Building Trades instructor at the high school and building trades students ended up building the Village a gazebo. He says, “Those students are now going to have a leg up when they go into the private sector because they know what that building permit process is like, they know the kind of time it is going to take, they have some incumbent skills.” Schroeder says the Village has resources available to it they just have to tap into them. Schroeder faces Village Trustees Mike Streetar and Keith King in Tuesday’s primary election for the Village presidency. The two top vote getters will run against each other in the April election.
