Mass Casualty Exercise

It sounds like a bad accident; two vehicles crash with up to ten injured. That was the scenario for Fond du Lac firefighters and paramedics during mass casualty training at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds the first two days of this week. Assistant Fire Chief Todd Janquart says it’s an opportunity to fine tune their response plan for such incidents. He says once they are prepared they will conduct similar training with other departments. Janquart says unfortunately real-life sometimes intervenes and they were ready to respond to real emergencies from the scene if need be. As for the training exercise it wasn’t too far off. Only a few years ago a motorist ran into a group of motorcyclists on Highway 151 in the Town of Taycheedah resulting in two deaths and seven injuries. Fond du Lac Fire Department photo.
