McDermott Park Master Plan Will Be Introduced To FDL City Council

The Fond du Lac City Council tonight will receive several updates including one for a McDermott Park Master Plan. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff will give that update and one on private lead services as well. Skiff says at the request of the Friends of McDermott Park group a UW-Madison landscape architect student drafted the plan for her senior project. Skiff says one of the suggestions in the plan is for a multi-use trail that would connect Merrill and Johnson through the park. He says perhaps the biggest suggestion is to add a multi-use trail under Johnson Street alongside DeNeveu Creek, which would be a way to get across Johnson Street without having to cross the street itself. He says it is a great suggestion, but might be hard to implement. Skiff says there is no funding currently for the multi-use trail that would connect Merrill and Johnson, but it could be added to their next Capital Improvements Plan. The Friends would seek donations for other improvements. The Council meets at 6 p.m. at the City-County Government Center.
