Me Too Movement

An official with Agnesian HealthCare’s Domestic Violence Service says the #MeToo movement is bringing more awareness to sexual harassment in light of recent allegations against Harvey Weinstein and other celebrities. Tiffany Parker feels that it is a good thing, but cautions not every victim is at the point in their healing where they want to join the 1.7 million women and men who have posted about their harassment on Twitter. She says it takes some longer to heal than others. Parker says there is such a thing as victim blaming and people sometimes will side with celebrities they like some how finding fault with the victim. The hashtag has been used in 85 countries and recently a California Congresswoman launched #MeTooCongress, a version for Washington staffers.
