Mercury Marine Groundbreaking

Mercury Marine broke ground this morning on a 45,000 square foot EDP coating facility. Mercury President John Pfeifer says the state-of-the-art facility will provide the anti-corrosive coating that a marine engine and drive system needs to operate effectively. It will replace the current 32 to 33 year-old facility.  Pfeifer says the facility won’t be open until December of 2016. He says it’s a very complicated 18 month project that will improve flexibility and the work environment for their employers. He says over time it will create new jobs. Pfeifer says since 2009 when the company decided to remain in Fond du Lac they’ve invested $580 million in their facilities in the City. Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation President Steve Jenkins says the machines for the EDP coating facility were made in Wisconsin. Other local dignitaries at the ground breaking included State Senator Rick Gudex, State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt, Fond du Lac City Manager Joe Moore, Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce President Joe Reitemeier and others.
