Mercury Marine Showcases New Engine At Museum

12-Jul-2014

Mercury Marine’s new 115hp FourStroke outboard engine is on display now at the Mercury Museum in Fond du Lac. The engine is one of four new engines introduced on June 16 by the world’s leading manufacturer of commercial and recreational marine engines.

The museum offers a unique, in-depth look at the rich heritage and history of Mercury Marine, which was formed in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, in 1939 but moved to Fond du Lac seven years later.

Museum visitors can stroll through Mercury’s history and learn how and why company founder E. Carl Kiekhaefer created the most recognized brand in the marine industry – a brand that is known globally for innovation, technology, performance and sustainability.

In addition to marine engines, the museum showcases snowmobiles, chainsaws and motorized bikes once engineered and manufactured by Mercury, and even a prototype lawnmower. Exhibits and interactive displays reveal the company’s colorful history and provide a deep dive into today’s innovations. Exhibits include a look at Mercury’s mysterious Lake X testing facility in Florida. Also displayed is the first engine built by Kiekhaefer.

Starting today, the museum is operating on summer hours, from 10 a.m – 4 p.m Wednesday through Sunday. The museum is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Admission to the museum is $1 per person, which will be donated to a charitable organization.
