Monica Walk Running For FDL School Board

A Fond du Lac School Board candidate says education has had a big role in her life and now she would like to give back by serving on the board. Monica Walk has a Master’s Degree in education and is self-employed. She says when her daughter went to Waters Elementary she gave time there as a volunteer. She says part of her job includes doing financial literacy work for a local bank, which involves classroom work. Walk says we are all stakeholders in our schools whether we have children attending them or not. She says the education we provide is for kids who will grow up to be our workers, our colleagues and our neighbors. She says while its true teachers got a 1 percent raise last year their salaries were also restructured. She says from talking with teachers she realizes the salary structure should be reexamined. Walk says she has worked in support of higher education her entire career. She says she is not a politician and is willing to listen to the concerns people have. Walk is one of four candidates running for two seats on the Fond du Lac School Board.
