Motions Denied In Lovelace Case

Fond du Lac County Judge Gary Sharpe last week denied a motion to dismiss the case against a 26-year-old Hilbert man who ran into a group of motorcyclists killing two of them. Judge Sharpe also denied a motion to suppress statements Clinton Lovelace made to investigators while he was in a hospital recovering from the accident. Judge Sharpe ruled that Miranda rights were read to Lovelace, but he chose to speak to officers anyway. Judge Sharpe earlier this month denied a motion to suppress evidence in the case. Two motorcyclists from Michigan died from the injuries they suffered in the accident on Highway 151 and seven others were injured. Lovelace faces 13 charges, 12 of them felonies including two charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. A 5-day jury trial is scheduled to begin October 14th.
